Hi!

Thank you for your lovely message! ^_^

I used to have an account here years ago (so long ago I've completely forgotten my login, haha!) but figured I'd sign up again with an account I'm less likely to forget! ^_~

I have only recently discovered the art of Kanzashi and immediately fell in love with it! It strikes me as another Far Eastern skill that is easy to learn, yet hard to master, but yields some of the most beautiful pieces of art I have ever seen.
Sadly, some of the key traditional materials such as quality rice glue and Japanese fabrics are hard to come by on a budget, but I get by with, albeit slightly cruder, similar alternatives in the form of satin/polycotton fabrics, a lighter and hot melt glue. ¬_¬

I do sometimes feel like I'm betraying the tradition of a fine artform, yet at the same time, art is often created and evolved from inspirations of existing ones.

I do love the dye work in your pieces, it really makes them quite beautiful. Again, in the absence of dyes, I have alcohol dye-based permanent ink blending pens that I'm itching to experiment with, heh heh heh. I'm hoping that the fabric will absorb the alcohol enough to give the ink a natural sort of fading bleed in the fibers.

Am I babbling? I think I'm babbling haha!

I hope to upload some pictures of my own work in the future as I practice and hopefully perfect my techniques.

I look forward to seeing more of your work too! ^_^

I think using the traditional techniques in different fabrics can be really nice! And bring new life into people's work.

Oh, pens to dye with~ That sounds interesting. :D

Good luck uploading pictures!
